St. Mark’s prize-winning Garden
Neighbours and passers-by often stop to admire our garden at the corner of
Hamilton Terrace and Abercorn Place - and to wonder what team of professionals
keeps its glory going throughout spring, summer and the autumn of each year. The
answer is none. It is the work of tireless and experienced gardener Joan Scott
and a little band of local people who help her out. "I love
gardening," says Joan, who was once a farmer in Kenya. "But my helpers
seem to be people who are here only temporarily and they often move to other
neighbourhoods or towns."
Joan says that she would love some help with the St. Mark’s garden and if
you have a bit of free time you could spare during the week or at weekends, at a
time of your choosing, she would love to hear from you. "You don’t even
need to be a gardener – just someone who enjoys being outdoors and helping to
keep a garden looking good." If you can help, telephone her on 020 7289
1327.
